Spain Trip 2019:

To help fund the trip, please save the dates for two upcoming events! On Saturday, January 6, there will be a bottle drive for collecting redeemable bottles and cans. There will be a truck in the front driveway of Leland and Gray from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, where you can leave your redeemable items. Also there is an account for the trip at the Putney Road Redemption Center, so that any time up to the trip departure you may bring your items and ask that the money be donated to the L&G Spain Trip account. Every nickle will help!

On Saturday, January 12th, there will be a Spanish Dinner & Dance at the Dutton Gym. Dinner will be served from 6:00 - 7:00, and live and recorded music will be performed throughout the evening. Authentic Spanish foods will be served...paella, gazpacho soup, tortillas Españolas, rice and beans, and other foods, along with desserts and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. Ticket prices are: $10 for adults, $5 for students, or $25 for families. $5 for dance only. There will also be a silent auction for great prizes.

During the February break, 14 L & G high school students and two teachers will travel to Spain as part of our ongoing cultural exchange with El Instituto Los Cahorros, a high school in Monachil, Spain. The students, Jacob Ameden, Olympia Burke, Sarah Andersen, Jillian Carona, Michael Carona , Erin Cutts, Lily Dutton, Abbie Hazelton, Bay Holmes, Alison Stockwell, Fox Pickering, Veronica Stevens, Michaela Stillwagon, and Siyanda Jacobs will travel with L&G teachers, Tammy Claussen and Jeryl Julian Cissé for 13 days. They will visit Barcelona, Madrid, Segovia, Granada and Códoba, as well as stay with families from the high school in Monachil. This is the fifth trip from L&G, led by Spanish teacher Ms. Cissé, where the students get to know the country through first-hand experiences touring historical sites, museums, hiking the hillsides, eating the local foods, and the highlight of the trip...attending school and interacting with the students. This is an alternating year trip, with the Spanish students visiting Vermont and staying with L&G families on the alternate year. Last year, we hosted 9 students and two teachers.

The students are also selling month-long calendar raffles! With fantastic prizes for each day of the month, you have 31 chances to win! And a winner one day with have the ticket entered back in to the raffle, so you may win multiple times! Calendars are $10 for one or 3 for $20. Contact one of the students or Ms. Cissé at, if you want to buy a calendar, or if you have any questions about the trip or any of the fundraising activities. Muchas Gracias for your support!
