Rebel Amigas in Montpelier

On Tuesday, April 8, 2014 three members (Kaylah Jacobs, Bailey Gouin, and Anastasia Stevens) of the Rebel Amigas, Leland and Gray's Jr. Iron Chef team, traveled to the State House in Montpelier. The students were among other Jr. Iron Chef teams who were recognized for winning at the state competition on March 22, 2014. While in the House Chamber a Resolution was read honoring the winning teams.

Following the Resolution reading and public recognition the teams set up food preparation stations in the cafeteria where they prepared their winning recipes for the legislators and other state employees. While proudly serving their food they met local representatives, Richard Marek and Carolyn Partridge.

After serving their food they were treated to lunch in the cafeteria by Abbey Food Group's Chef Ray Wood. During lunch they were joined by Karen Taylor Mitchell from the Governor's Institute who spoke with the team about the Institute's Farm, Food & Your Future week. Rebecca Sanborne Stone, a VT FEED consultant interviewed the team about their participation in Jr. Iron Chef.
The Rebel Amiga's team was joined by co-coaches  Chef Joseph Gerardi, from the Abbey Group and Susan Jones, Family and Consumer Science Teacher, as well as Victoria Chertok, 21 Century Coordinator, all of Leland and Gray High School.
The visit to the State House was coordinated by Amy Gifford, VT Feed and Jr. Iron Chef Coordinator.
