From Rence Ricohermoso, Leland and Gray math teacher, and Filipino citizen
Dear Leland and Gray Community,
RenceAs many of you know last Friday, November 8th, one of the most powerful typhoons in history hit the Philippine Islands, devastating everything in its path. Many lives were lost and the death toll is climbing daily. Medical facilities, homes, businesses, and infrastructures were completely destroyed, and the survivors are desperate for basic needs of water, food, clothing, and medicines. Personally, my family is safe, but many of my friends and community members have lost everything. On behalf of my country people, I am asking for help in supporting their needs by raising funds. At the school we have organized a bottle drive, and we are asking the local community to join in the effort. An L & G Disaster Relief Fund account has been set up at D & K's Redemption Center in Jamaica, and at the Putney Road Redemption Center in Brattleboro. Please help us help the Filipino survivors by bringing your redeemable items to one of the redemption centers and donating the funds to the relief account. In addition to the bottle drive, donation checks can be made out to Leland and Gray Union High School with a memo noting the Disaster Relief Fund (PO Box 128 Townshend, Vermont 05353). I will make sure that the funds directly reach those in need. MARAMING SALAMAT PO! ("Thank you very much" in Tagalog).
With great appreciation,

Rence Ricohermoso
